AQUAFAQ is the public name of Aqua Fisheries Aquaculture LLC. The company was established in 2020 to build an aquaculture platform on Dalma Island, Abu Dhabi, with work both onshore and offshore.
The lease is 156,118 square metres on land and 250,000 square metres at sea. On that ground the plan is four plants: a hatchery of 40 million juveniles a year, a feed plant of 60,000 tonnes, sea cages of 20,000 tonnes, and processing of 20,000 tonnes.
These are design capacities. They describe what the system is drawn to produce once it is fully built. They are not a statement of fish already harvested.
Behind that core, two later phases are planned: shrimp in recirculating water, and mud crab in a vertical system, each at 5,000 tonnes.
The Gulf already eats a great deal of seafood. The platform exists so more of that fish can be raised here, with seed, feed and processing on the same island.
